“Spectacle Forms of Ludic Culture: Literary Projections”: call for papers

Dear colleagues,

The Professor V. I. Fesenko Department of Theory and History of World Literature announces call for papers to be presented at the International Conference in Literary Studies “Spectacle Forms of Ludic Culture: Literary Projections” to be held at the Kyiv National Linguistic University on 16-17 March 2017.

The conference will be dedicated to the discussion of the following topics:

- (De-)hierarchization of culture in historical perspective

- Literary thematization of “low-brow” folk spectacle forms, circus, cabaret, variety show

- Traveling minstrel, clown, fool in the character system of a literary work

- Trick and spiel as a literary technique

- Intermedial aspects

- Nationally-specific character of spectacle forms and its reflection in literature

The conference will result in selected papers’ publication in the journal Contemporary Literary Studies (Issue 14, 2017).
